Thank you. I'll post my results / impressions next week.

One more question...with this new set up, would you leave the clear "fog" lamps stock? I have to replace a broken lens & bulb anyway so...

Thanks again,

Michael

1) Doesn't the high output 80W bulb take this "fix" to the next level without any modification? (80 instead of 65)

I would go with 80W bulb instead of the 9005... the light pattern of 9005 is a bit too narrow.

2) Its implied that US ellipsoid lens are needed to make this work, I don't have these. My BMP catolog has ellipsoid lens for about $50. WILL THESE FIT THE STOCK LOCATION WUTHOUT MODIFICATION? (not shouting just need an answer to this, my main question, if known)

Yeah, you can just buy the assembly and install it... it will take a bit of your time but it will fit like a glove.

3) I don't have $500 for HID upgrade :)

Will ellipsoid lens combined with 80W bulb give the desired long narrow pattern for fast night driving?

Yes

This is a perfect description of my problem..."and US non-ellipsoid gives a wide, specular pattern with terrible throw (distance of beam projection). "
