Get an Interstate or Die Hard, they will check the proper size. Cranking capability depends on where you live. A typical car will crank a few hundred amps when starting. You have to be careful in buying high CCA batteries since the additional amps come from placing more battery sells in the battery case. The squeezing in of the added cells can cause downstream failure problems and shorten the battery's life. My six banger 525i has had an Interstate battery since I can remember. I have killed it several times by leaving the lights on and it still works fine in the dead of winter in the Baltimore area (10 - 20 degrees F).

I need a new battery. Foul smells coming from back seat, almost like eggs. How many cranking amps (cold and regular) do I require? I have a '95 525i 144k miles.
