The early 530i was an M30 with only 3 liters of displacement, rather than 3.5. Not available in the US. I'm pretty sure it was made from '88-'92. The 530i with M60 V8 was introduced in 1993 ('94 in the US). The E46 330i engine is an M52, an evolution of the M50 found in E34s.


The 530 has apparently been sold in both V8 and 6 form. I wonder if anyone knows:

1. What were the years of the fuel-corrosion-prone V-8?

2. When was the 6 sold?

3. Is the 6 the same as the in the 330?
