I have heard that the factory ///M540i is a conglomeration of the E34 sedan chassis and various left-over ///M5 bits, with the US 540i engine and six-speed manual transmission. Are the ///M540i's brakes:

Like the US 540i (302x28f/300x20r vented)?
Like the Euro 3.6 ///M5 up to 10/89 (315x28f/300x10r solid)?
Like the US 540i Sport, US 3.6 ///M5, Euro 3.6 ///M5 after 10/89, and Euro 3.8 ///M5 up to 6/94 (315x28f/300x20r vented)?
Like the Euro 3.8 ///M5 from 6/94 on (345x32f four-pot/328x20r vented)?

Just curious about that Frankenstein beast...

The Canada-only ///M540i has the monstrous 345x32f four-pot/328x20r vented brakes from the late euro M5s. That's one of the differences between the M540i and the US market 540i Sport.

Check www.kindel.com/bmw for more info on the M540i and 540i Sport.
