Sounds like a stuck heater control valve. Especially true if you have working heat on one side, normal temps on the other.

The heater control valve is an electric solenoid controlled by the heater unit. You set the temp and it decides how much water to let in to the core to maintain the designated temp.

If the control valve is stuck, you loose heater temp control.

If hot on both sides, might check the wiring harness and make sure its plugged in. I recall the system runs wide open (hot) when there is no signal.

90 535i

I have a 535i and Im having problems with the Interior heating.

All I can get to come out of the floor vents is hot air, even if I turn the driver and passenger temp dials to cool. The middle vents put out cool air but they have their own temp dial.

I have looked through the Archives and all I can come up with is a possible sensor valve that could be stuck, possible ?

Anyone know how I can fix this, and is it going to be costly ?

Much Appreciated,
