Any suggestions on repairing the hole where it goes in? The metal around the bolts for the detent has cracked and broken. Now the door won't stay open.

Should I replace the door or can I weld some new metal in there for the bolts?

Take the inner door panel off, drive the pin out of the end on the door frame, unbolt the device from the door, reach in the door and grab it, then keep twisting and turning until you get it out of the confines of the door. Installation is reverse of removal, as they say. You need to be persistent, as it is very tight inside the door.

mike
