Had a pair of lower control arms from BAV auto made by OCAP. Never installed them since I was told the ball joints don't hold up so I ordered some from fcp. They look like original aluminum arms. Also changed the right upper thrust arm since it had bad boot. The boots on the new lower control arms are the accordian style which probably will last longer than the OCAP which are non-accordian style. Oh and by the way, my clunking problem is finally fixed. Ball joints never showed any looseness with wheels on/off ground but I decided to change them anyway.
I replaced the lower control arms and tie rods on my 91 525i about a year ago, with parts from a vendor in California, that sells many parts on ebay. I was under the car today replacing O2 sensor and noticed that all the rubber boots on these "new" parts have cracked and deteriorated to the point that they require replacement again. The parts are German made and appeared to be quality parts. Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone tried the replacement boots sold by BMP? Any other solutions?
