I had a fluctuating idle before I replaced my oxygen sensor. How many miles are on your car? I believe BMW recommends replacement at 100k miles on an M50 525, but I was having problems at around 90k miles.

Hi:
Anyone experience this on their 525 or 530/540 auto?

Pull up to a light first thing in the AM or PM after sitting all day (ambient temps in the 40s) and the car surges 4 or 5 times against the brake (in gear) before settling to a normal idle.

Only happens on dead cold car.

Some kind of idle control valve issue?
