Sorry about that but someone emailed me a Car&Driver article April 1992.

The M5 ran to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and 120mph in 21.9. I have a new Car&Driver with the latest Mustang Cobra, improved power model and it runs to 60mph in 5.5 seconds and 0-120mph in 21.9 seconds too which seems to validate my races with my buddy Tim. BTW I have also seen a Sports Car Illustrated which ran the M5 to 60 mph in 5.61 and 5.77 seconds so I believe these to be consistent. When I light em up I trounce those older stock 5.0 LX Stangs, usually 3 car lengths..

Not that I condone racing but I saw these two go from 50-90 ish northbound on the 405 freeway. The Cobra left the M5 pretty good. Yes the M5 was trying, it looked like he initiated the race. The car was lowered, black and looked very clean.

Just how quick is the e34 M5? Would it be close to a late model 540 6-speed or faster?
