1989 - production of the '91 model begins
1990 - rear center console deleted, adjustable steering column added
1991 - 1992 model M5 poduced with 3.73 final drive, standard remote locking with alarm and speed - sensitive steering
1/92 - revised "M5" door sill plates matched to int. color
9/92 - Production of '93 model begins with reduced clutch effort, shadowline trim, M System II "throwing star" wheels, aerodynamic mirrors, "BMW Motorsport" embossed on the door handles, tri-color stitching on the steering wheel, maple wood trim, and 4 new paint colors (mugello red, calypso red, lagoon green, avus blue)
3/93 - production ends with vin #06690
