purchase an extended warranty for '92 M5? (archive)

Hi Everyone,

I have a '92 M5 with 85,000 miles. I purchased the car two years ago and have not had a single problem until very recently. In the last six months I've rebuilt the front brakes, replaced the water pump, radiator, clutch, idler arm, upper control arm... Altogether more than a couple thousand $$.

So.. here's my question. After spending all this money on repairs, I'm seriously considering purchasing an extended warranty. I've received quotes online from two sources, warrantybynet.com and Auto Advantage... both are around $2200 for two years, 24,000miles. Sounds expensive, but still a bit less than I've spent in the last couple of months.

Any opinions on extended warranties, providers, anything?

Is it normal for my car to be going through these types of 'growing pains' at this mileage?

Thanks,
Don Smith
