IMHO best thing since sliced bread, has you covered from -50 to 150 Farenheit.

Hello all,

Just picked up my black '91 on Monday and drove it for the first time. WOW, what a machine!

Questions:

It has 103000kms and has always run on mineral oil. Any problems switching to Mobil 1 15W50? Most of the engine gaskets were changed in November '99 and the only leak now is the head drain tube at the RR of the block (bad O ring up top), very minor.

Is it true you should only use 15W40 or 15W50? My local dealer wanted to put Syntec 5W30 in for the winter. I'm in Calgary Canada and it is expected to hit -32C next week. At that temperature, mineral oil would be a solid block but the Mobil would still be OK. BTW, there is no block heater as the car came from Vancouver BC.

Thanks in advance. Anthony

If you change to syntetic from mineral oil. make sure that you replace both filter and oil very soon again. e.g 1000 km. Because the syntietic oil will clean and remove all rest from the old mineral oil and block the filter and go out uncleaned throu the by pass and ruin your engine.
