Now I know why I use this message board, you guys are nuts. Yes Anand has a 6 speed M5 touring, one of 891 hand built, and yes it is faster than a 540 sport 6 speed. A US M5 is not, a euro M5 is. I sold him the car, it will be in Atlanta next week. It has options on it that we never got in the US, I guess they decided we didn't deserve them. Park distance control, auxillary heater. I've had 13 euro E34 M5s. I would NEVER own a US version again. Its not that one is better than the other, I just prefer the upgrade. I have TWO customers who have sold their 540 sports to purchase a euro 3.8, I have had three sell their US M5s. I have one who couldn't wait for a euro M5 and bought a 540 sport, very nice car I liked it a lot, but its not an M5, and it wasn't as fast. If you guys are going to testosterone yourselfs to death, can I at least watch? Oh by the way, Anands car has a BMW individual interior which is grey and light grey leather, leather door panels hand stitched, leather glove box, kick panel, center console. The car is gorgeous, why didn't we get this option instead of vinyl door panels that come apart. My first M5 was US, the other 12 I've had were European. They look the same, but they don't drive the same, and either does a 540 sport.
Enjoy what you have and stop bickering. At least you have a BMW. Enjoy the ride.
Scott
