US E28 M5/M6 had 256 HP from the factory. I bought a stock M5 just a couple months ago, and my brother bought one with a Dinan chip. His was definitely faster. Then I put in a Jim Conforti chip, and he says mine now feels a little faster, and much smoother.

All M5s and M6s came with a heavy duty diff with limited slip standard. It's the same casing as the E34 M5, 540, and 7/8 series V8/V12.
