Which a JimC Euro 3.8 chip, my '94 3.8 passes NJ emissions inspection with flying colors.

The problem with the Federal test cycle for importing the car is the cold-start emissions. Even though the Euro M5s are fitted with the same emissions equipment as US cars, the reality is that no car with normal mileage on it will pass the cold-start test easily. Usually a brand-new catalytic converter is required.

Does somebody know if a chiptuning on a '93 Euro M5 3,8l will cause problems with the emission test imposed for Federalizing the car?
