Before I get swamped with V1 believers, I already have one in my 91 M5 and it's the best detector I've ever had, but I am writing now for my new 740i Sport. I know this isn't a 740iS BB, but please indulge me, I know you guys have good information. I live in Virginia where detectors are illegal and the 740iS has the new infared shielding on the windshield which seriously hamper detectors functioning. The only remote mounts I have been able to locate are the Beltronics Vector LR remote Model# 915-R and one I've never heard of called Snooper Shadow 360, there advertising says they produced the 1st solid state detector back in 1972, but again, I have never heard of them. My dilema is I really need a good remote mount, for the above reasons, radar detector in short order. This new 740iS is seriously fast in a very deceiving(I may end up in jail)kind of way. The snooper with the dual laser modules is $645. the Bel 915-R with the same set-up is $395. but I get a $80. discount if I trade in a older bel unit, I have a glove box full of them. So I'm looking at $315. for a detector that I know is good, but no V1 versus $645. for the snooper that I've never heard of. Sorry to ramble but the point I'm trying to make is, price isn't a concern in so far as I want the best remote mount I can get, but I'm not rich or gullible enough to just assume since the one is more expensive it must be better. Does anyone have some advice for me or another brand of remote mount I should be looking at. One other thing, since it's a new car I'm real leary of any type of install that could possible void my factory warranty, another reason to go with the remote mount, I think I can install it in such a way as to make it invisible to everyone and easy to uninstall without leaving a trace if it has to go to the dealer for service. I want to thank anyone who can help in advance and again say I know this isn't directly for my M5 but I post and read info here alot for my M5 so i know you guys have good information. The sooner I can get some feedback the better, this car is really fast and so damn smooth it goes into 3 digits before you know it.
