The rectangle thing on the driver's side door map pocket is an original BMW COIN HOLDER. It was standard on my '90 535i also.

A used recon tranny maybe cost around $4K, chech to www.metricmechanic.com or www.bavengine.com

Regarding the radar detector which pays for itself I think it is a lot of bull.
