now i'm really confused... i just had a LONG fone conversation with someone at MM, and he told 4 or 5 times that they WOULD NOT rebuild the 280. i was told that it wasn't worth the money due to the inherant weaknesses within the gearbox. aparently (as per whoever i talked with) the MM sport OD gearbox conversion that they sell (a modified 265(modified input and output shafts, updated bearings, updated shift forks, new gearset(to match the 280), new carrier bearing, blah blah blah)) has directions that show you how to use the m5's driveshaft. the 265's tailshaft is 5/8" longer than the 280.

this is BULLSHIT!!! why is it that i can't get a straight answer from anyone??? the same guy @ MM told me that he gets three to four calls a week about rebuilding the goddamn 280!!!

where can i get my hands on the euro-gearbox that was used with the s38/b38(the 3.8L euro version that we never got)? i have also heard that this would be the way to go...
