I HAVE SPOKEN TO A FEW THAT ARE INTERESTED IN IMPORTING, BUT HAVE THE MISCONCEPTION THAT IT IS ALWAYS A HARD TASK. WELL YES AND NO! CERTAIN CARS DEPENDING ON THE CONDITION OF THE CAR...THE HARDEST PART AND MOST COSTLY PART IS THE EPA TESTING THAT EACH CAR MUST GO THROUGH...... THE D.O.T PART IE: CHANGING THE HEADLIGHTS, DROPPING THE BUMPERS ETC, IS A CAKE WALK... THE PRICES ARE LIKE THE WAY THE ARE BECAUSE THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT WANT THESE CARS HERE ANYWAY, SO SOME OF THESE CLOWNS THAT CALL THEMSELVES "RI" CAN GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT, BECAUSE WE CANNOT COMPLAIN ABOUT PRICING.
SO I SAID THAT TO SAY THIS YOU MUST HAVE A GOOD STRATEGY
AS FAR AS WHAT TYPE OF CAR YOU ARE BRINGING IN,(IF IT'S ON THE DOT LIST), WHERE IT WILL LAND (WHAT PORT) AND WHO WILL DO THE WORK FOR YOU. IN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, YOU "WILL HAVE TO BE INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS TO SAVE TIME AAND MONEY....
I HAVE COMPANIES THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND AND OTHERS I WOULD WARN AGAINST.....I HAVE BROUGHT IN 3 CARS (MY OWN PERSONAL VEHICLES) AND I LOVE THEM ALL....EVEN WITH THE BAD EXPERIENCE I HAD WITH A "RI" THERE ARE GOOD ONES OUT THERE.
"JUST BE CAREFUL...AND REMEMBER IT IS YOUR MONEY AND PROPERTY YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO BE INVOLVED AND BE KEPT UP TO DATE ON THE STATUS OF YOUR CAR.
1. DO CHOOSE YOU CAR CAREFULLY
2. MAKE SURE IT IS MECHANICALLY SOUND/TUNED UP (EPA TESTING)
3. PREPARE TO SPEND AT LEAST 7-8K
4. DO NOT BE MISLEAD BY WHAT YOU ARE TOLD.....IF YOU ARE NOT CLEAR ON SOMETHING, ASK QUESTIONS...(THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A STUPID QUESTION.
5. CHOOSE YOUR RI WISELY NOT PRICE WISE..LOOK INTO THEIR
