Second (or first if you can't wait) go to the passenger's door and using the key you should be able to open the door. (I am traveling so I can't ref. the manual - sorry) There is a trick to it - I think you have to turn the key and lift up on the handle at the same time. In the manual is says you may have to re-synch the central locking after doing this, so that's why it would be a good idea to get the manual. It may also address the failed battery & alarm issue to see what else lies out there waiting for you!
Good luck....
My 92 M5 has been sitting in my garage unused forthe past several months. Having failed to disconnect battery, said battery is now completely discharged. Alarm, which was set and is now also dead due to discharged battery, will not permit me to unlock doors or trunk, even with key.
Am I the first to fall victim to this? Or are there some fellow alumni out there who have confronted this? What's my next step?
Thanks ....
Byron
