What to buy? M5 or 540i (archive)

Looking for opinions. Should I purchase a E34 M5 or 540i?
either way it will get a new suspension and maybe a supercharger. I am not interested in M540i's (don't want to pay for a suspension that will come out. BTW, anyone know if there are many 540i 6-spds available? Not interested in automatics
