ordinary steering fluid (archive)

I think I may have made a big mistake. My steering fluid resevoir was low and I topped it up with power steering fluid. Only after I was done did I see the note on the cap specifying which type of fluid to use! What are the ramifications of this? Should I have the system flushed and filled with spec. fluid?
