These things may have done hardly anything at all, but I have left somethings off the car while working on it just to save weight and/or time.

Spare tire
Changed battery to smaller and lighter Optima gell cell
Dash cover under dash, above pedals to access mount for clutch stop
Plastic panels that cover access to headlights
Plastic engine cover that covers access to belts

Didn't weight the stuff, but the spare alone is probably worth 25lbs, the plastic might total around another 5lbs. Minimal, but anything might help.

1991 M5 w/153,004 miles
UUC Short Shifter w/ Matrix knob
Yokohama AVS Sports 235/40/17
Redline Diff. Fluid
A little less metal, plastic, and rubber!

If you throw out the interior, (back and front seats, and replace with light weight chairs, out with the roughs and heat packadge and so on..) how much weight have you lost?

Is this the best way to loose weight on the E34 M5?

Let me see!
The car weighs 3800 lbs.
You discard 100 lbs of misc covers and stuff. Hummm, do the math and that is 2.6% body fat. Hummm, the car has 20 gallons of gas @ 6 lbs/gallon, do the math and that is 120 lbs.
Humm, honey you can't ride in the car...
Hummm, the driver weighs!!
I get the picture!!
