Usually post on e39 board, but had to share ...

Leaving work today, I see a nice, presentable, medium-blue e34 wagon parked next to my car. I wasnt paying close attention because it had no numbers on the rear hatch. Figured it was a de-badged 525 or so.

By the time I got to my driver's door, all kind of subconscious alarms were going off. Peripheral vision had picked up all kinds of details, black rocker panels, HUGE brake rotors, dark piping on the light seats, that sort of thing. Looked closer, yep, little ///M on the wheels, colored /// on the shifter, FAT tires, German plate on the front, 300 km speedo, and the not so subtle Florida plate, "M5 TOUR".

Dropped my bag in the trunk and made a bee-line for the barbecue/open house that my school was having this evening. Had planned on leaving right after close, but this was something worth investigating. Sure enough, fellow with a European accent. Turns out his wife, one of my colleagues, drives the blk/blk 750iL that I usually drool over in the parking lot. I like those people.

Turns out you can import and DOT/EPA certify a pristine, low-mileage 95 M5T for a good bit under 40K. Visually, I like the e34 wagon so much more than the e39. Really thinking about selling my car now, dammit. Yeah, it's *only* 340 ponies out of a six-cylinder. But lighter overall, that insane rev-iblilty ....

Regards,

Michael
