I purchased a Racing Dynamics SS exhaust for my 91, M5. The RD SS exhaust, I bought on-sale cost me $1000 plus shipping, looks exactly the same as to OE unit except the tips are a little larger. The tone is slightly deeper and louder.
Ken is correct, the OE exhaust is about as good as it gets and there is nothing to be gained by an aftermarket exhaust. I would have purchased an OE if the RD unit wasn't on-sale. The retail price is $2800.
