brake rotor & pad recommendations? (archive)

Hi, All,

I'm new to this list; had a '91 M5 and recently bought a '95 540i Sport, which uses the same brakes. Two questions:

(1) What's the exact dimensions (diameter and width) of the front rotors? I know this sounds so simple, but I've read in different places three different dimensions. I thought they were 328X28 mm, but if someone can verify that I'd appreciate it!

(2) What rotors and pads are people using on the track, and where do you buy them? I'll certainly take this car to the track and so am interested in hearing what works best as a compromise (always the case) between on-track and street performance (e.g., some setups are only useable on the track; I typically change out my pads at least for track vs. street), longevity, and price. Thanks very much for any input!
