The M5 I want to buy needs rebuilt transmission. The mechanic says it has to be done by BMW and it costs A LOT!!! Anyone has had theirs rebuilt by 3rd party transmission repair or rebuild shop? Any feedback and idea on cost? Any suggestion or recommendaiton from anyone?

I'm having mine done. I'm in Toronto Canada.
Mine needs syncros(2nd,3rd), I will change them all. My trans shop said not to worry, its a getrag
If your cars trans is worse it may be expensive
