You can use the orginal springs, but why would you do that? To replace the shock, you must remove the shock/spring assembly from the car. The spring must then be removed from this assembly. So now you have a ten year old spring just lying on your workbench (or garage floor) waiting to be assembled with your new shock. Why not buy new springs to assemble with your new shock? Relatively speaking, springs are not very expensive.
Looks like my self leveling is leaking on my 1991 M5. I want to replace the shocks with Bilsteins. My question is can I reuse the same springs? I plan on purchasing the Elimination kit from Bav Auto. BTW, does anyone know how much is the kit?
