The previous owner of my 91 added Dinan camber plates and 255/40 Sumitomo HTRZ's on 8.5 x 17 wheels with a 15 mm offset.
As near as I can tell:
1) The 8.5 inch wheel is needed to run 255's.
2) Reducing offset from 20 to 15 mm moves tire outboard and prevents tire rub on shock tower.
3) Camber plate keeps wider tire with less offset from rubbing fender (also reduces understeer).
This setup looks great, and handles fantastic on smooth roads. BUT, I am trying to figure out how to reduce tramlining (the car darts from side to side on roads with ruts). I believe that the wider tire, reduced offset and increased camber are all contributing factors.
At this point I would consider trading my camber plates, wheels (Mille Miglia Glide II) and tires for stock.
