Hi Vitesh-
The E34 M5 3.6l is not a rocket off the line-it performs best from 60mph and up thus the official performance times seem disappointing.Autoweek of May 28 1990 listed the following:
0-30mph:2.5 sec
0-60mph:6.4 sec
0-80mph:10.7 sec
0-100ft:3.2 sec
0-500ft:8.3 sec
0-1320ft (1/4 mile)15 sec @96 mph
Skidpad:.80g
I have a J.Conforti chip and this raises the rev. limiter to just about 7800 rpm. This increase helps a lot to keep the M3's at bay at the track when powering down the straight in 3rd gear.
Yes,a shortshift and later clutch make a big difference too.
As to your post re. M3's-I raced my son in his E36 M3 (also chipped)on a long straightaway-up to 120 mph they are about even-from 120 up the M5 is faster-he ran out of steam at about 150 and I let off at 170 mph.I'm sure the Euro version is a different story though.
BTW-I'm from SA originally-Worcester,Cape-have lived in Florida USA for the past 22 years.
Alles van die beste!
