(1) I've seen this car recently. It's absolutely gorgeous. Period.
(2) Steve has dealt with many hundreds of BMW purchasers and club members over the years, and his reputation is beyond reproach. He's as honest as they come. I have no vested interest either way on this matter; just giving you my perceptions gathered from knowing Steve and his dealings for the last five years.
(3) Of course anyone looking to spend this kind of money on a '93 M5 would have it checked out thoroughly with a fine-tooth comb. No doubt Steve would expect nothing less from a potential buyer...just as he did when he bought it himself.
(4) $36k seem high for this car? Then, needless to say, you can always go find another '93 Avus Blue/silver grey M5 with 28kmi on it and buy that one for less.
As for me, I'd say ~$30k off of what it cost new ain't a bad discount for any E34 M5 in practically new condition. The fact that this one's a rare and desirable color combination is a bonus. You don't even have to be a speculator to justify the economics--just drive it and enjoy, if that's what suits you.
(5) To approach any purchase of this type (or any car purchase at all, for that matter) with a bit of caution is just common sense. Doing it with respect and consideration for all may not be common sense but is always appreciated.
