Thanks Gary

My engine sounds more clattery with this stuff. Even though it is a decent synthetic I dont quite a confident at RPM running this stuff. I will switch to 15 w 50 pretty quick here.

Thanks !

Hi there

My dealer just put in 5 W 30 BMW high performance synthetic on my last tune up last week. This oil seems so thin and I am wondering if the BMW 15 W 40 is a better choice for warmer weather. My M5 currently burns no oil excessive oil at this time even with this thin stuff. Any other recommendations. Thanks in advance !

I use 15W-50 Mobil 1, even in the winter. The S38 engine likes the thicker oil. Good but thin oil is OK, but I think thicker is better, for this engine. There is no best, but lots of good choices. Castrol RS 10W-60 is also good, but hard to find in the US (BMW or Porsche dealer).
