e34 - to buy or not to buy? (archive)

I have a line on a 1994 530i, 5spd - approx 80K miles. Block swap was not done, owner claims leak down test was ok at 6K miles and that he has had no problems since. It is my understanding that BMW offered a 6 years or 100K mile warranty on the block. But since 6 years is now up I guess I will pay if the block problem emerges after I purchase.

Opinions?
