I purchased a 3 yr/36,000 mi extended warranty for my '92 M5 (85,000mi) from 'The Auto Connection' last December. The warranty I bought was $1400, that includes the $0 deductible and the wear & tear options. I figured $1400 was pretty cheap considering thats the cost of about 2 typical M5 repairs.

I've only made one claim so far... for the A/C compressor. The claim was painless, but they did use a refurbished part (which has worked out fine). The A/C repair was covered 100% and as a bonus, the system was converted to use the new R-134A refrigerant.

Best of luck,
Don

I'm selling my '91 M5 to a friend of mine. Since we don't want to get into any issues relating to future repair costs (he says he'll take responsibility, but I'll feel guilty if something big breaks) we're thinking about getting an extended warranty through the local dealer. Anyone have any experience/advice with these?

Thanks.
