How does the warranty company determine if the car already has problems? Do they inspect the car before writing the warranty?


I'm selling my '91 M5 to a friend of mine. Since we don't want to get into any issues relating to future repair costs (he says he'll take responsibility, but I'll feel guilty if something big breaks) we're thinking about getting an extended warranty through the local dealer. Anyone have any experience/advice with these?
