Do any of you guys know if the crownwheel and pinion gears from a six cylinder 535i fit the M5. I know that all the archives say that only V8, V12 and M cars are the same and that the six cylinder gears are smaller, but I have heard elsewhere that the 535i (with 4.27 gears) was a one-off and that it had the larger gearset. Im having trouble finding out if this is true, im from australia and no-one here knows jack shit about these diffs.

Has anyone here rebuilt their diff with 535 4.27 gears or heard of it being done before? I have seen a 4.27 M5 diff for sale, would these gears be from a 535 or are motorsport gears the only available option if you want to go low? Please help
