You may want to buy them from Dinan. Bilstein and Koni shocks are pre-tuned to Dinan spec's by the manufacturer. I found this out the hard way with the Bilsteins I had put on my E28 - I had to pull them off and pay $200 to correct the default settings. I'm going with Dinan on my E34 540i...

experiences?

I need to replace my front OE dampers as they are now at the 110,000km mark and one freezes whenever the temperature drops below -15C.

I'm not interested in lowering the car at any time in the future as it has to cope with deep snow in the winter and the handling is great already. Also, the self levelling parts are all in good order for now so the rears will be left alone.

Concern #1: the Koni site lists two fitments (19MM or 22MM top nut) but my '91 (11/90) is outside the listings for the M5 range. Mine has the 22MM nut.

Concern #2: The OE M5 dampers are considerably stiffer than those on my '90 535 were. I assume that since the Konis are the same across the entire E34 range and are supposed to be stiffer than OE, their base (softest) setting will be about the same as the M5 OE. Correct, or are they softer?

Thanks!

Anthony
