Hello James.Sounds like u got one strong engine there.315 hp means engine still like new.Whats the mileage on ur m5 and about what mileage was it at when u dyno'd it.I dont understand when people refer to mileage as eg 163k cause here in south africa we use kilometres and i believe 1 mile is about 1.55 kilometer or so not very sure.We drove an m5 a while back were gonna buy it.It was a 92 model white with grey seats and had 163000 kilometers on the clock bout 106000 miles i think not very sure. When we test drove it we never drove it fast just once my dad floored it at about 3000 rpm in third gear.Under 5000 was quite tamed but after 5000 was strong till about 6500 and from 6500 to 7000 was like out of breath but this was at reef altitude and at sea level i believe u gain bout 17% more power for normal aspirated cars and about 4% for turbo-charged cars because the air is more dense or less dense not sure think more dense at the coast so i'm sure the car would be much more powerful at sea level.A friends of my dads also took me for a drive in his m5 in about 1997 or so and what a drive.By the way both 3.6L.We dont have 3.8L here.It was nice to see that needle spin all the way to 240 so quick he never took it to 260 and the cars handling is great cause it was kind of a shit road bumpy. I must admit one of the best rides i went for.I sat in porsche's,corvettes.U own ur m5 from new and was ur engine ever overhauled?Thanx.BYE!
