As soon as I posted the message above yesterday, I got a phone call from the the guy at eagleimex. We spoke for a few minutes, and I began to feel more comfortable with them. I didn't want to cast a shadow on them, but I have met my share of swindlers in the car business, and I have become VERY sceptical about sellers, especially with cars of this caliber. If there are others that have purchased cars throught them, and they are happy, than there really isn't much I can say!! I will try to go take a look at what they have later this week and I'll let yall know

As far as the green M5 at eagleimex, I have been trying to get ahold of these guys for a while. I spoke with them a few months back, at which point I was first told that it was ready for sale and had completed federalization. Then I was told that it was being completed in NY. Then I was told it would be done in a few weeks. These guys seem a little shady. Additionally, I live about five miles from where they are located and have yet to ever see it. I will keep the board posted as to whether or not these guys are just blowing smoke.

I'm the proud owner of a '97 540i. Love the car except it's an automatic without the sport suspension. I can't afford a new M5 so I was looking to purchase a newer model 540i six speed with sport suspension and then install the RD sport cams and exhaust. Then I can across this site http://www.eagleimex.com/BMW.html and fell in love with the beautiful Green 94/95 Euro M5 listed there.

So, I know this is an E34 board, but I sure would appreciate some feedback from this list. My basic questions are:

How much faster, if at all, is the 94/95 M5 Euro over a stock E39 540i six speed?
What are the key issues with the M5 regarding maintenance and longevity?
Can this car be modified to meet California EPA?
If so, what performance hits would the car take?
What specific areas should I have focused on during a Tech inspection?
Anything else you think I should know?

Thanks for any feedback.
