I guess you're unaware of the fact that those original M5 "turbine" wheels that look like whitewalls are:

(a) forged alloy, by Fuchs of Germany, same as on 911's;

(b) very lightweight; about 17 lbs each. Ever weighed your wheels? Many 17" cast wheels are in the 22-24 lb. range, and some are as much as 30 lbs. Nonetheless, the M5 wheels are extremely strong even though they're light weight.

(c) the "whitewall" appearance comes from the fact that they have patented magnesium brake cooling fins built into them that actually work--they can reduce brake rotor temperatures by more than 100 degrees F under hard use. Ever lost your brakes due to overheating? If not, and assuming you don't have the OEM wheels, you don't drive it hard enough. I've lost mine several times--my car came with the incorrect wheels.

(d) Consequently, these wheels are becoming more and more valuable, particularly to people who understand what they are; especially those who track their M5's. In fact, I just bought a set; paid good money for 'em, too.

Of course, if you're more interested in appearance than function, then ignore all this.

Obviously not mine, check it out
