Realize that the bare wheel is the same in each case; the only difference is the cover which is bolted to that wheel. The turbine covers are made of magnesium, which is 35% lower density than aluminum. But, the turbine covers have to be sturdy enough for the fins to do their job blowing air onto the brakes, so they end up weighing a few pounds each anyway. I weighed a complete turbine wheel and it's 23 lbs. including the center cap. The throwing-star covers are thin aluminum and almost certainly lighter than the turbine covers, although I don't have one to weigh so can't answer your question explicitly. They look great, but the downside is that they don't afford any significant brake cooling.
