I just reoved the self leveling form my '93. In it's place we installed bilstein sports. We removed the entire assembly, accumulators etc...and looped the line back using a piece of brake line. Be sure to lock the leveling arm in place.
Last summer I replaced the fronts with Bilstein sports.
As for springs...I used the stock front springs cut down by one coil and I'm happy with the results. In the back I used a 535 springs cut down by one coil and I'm not as pleased with the results.
I'm now thinking of going with H&R all around.

My M5 is a '91 with 117K miles - new to me and I love it, but it seems to have an abnormally bouncy ride, even for a performance car. My tech says the accumulators are probably the culprit.

He is suggesting that I put 535i Shock assemblies with Bilstein cartridges in place of my self-leveling suspension. He says he can disconnect the relay and plug lines so everything is still there if I ever want it back to original, everything else is now. Supposedly I get a better ride and handling. Cost estimated at $500-$700 depending on how much we pay for parts.

Anybody done this? Thoughts?
