They said the evaporator is leaking, as well as the expansion valve. They also said the dryer needs replacing due to age, and the condensor just because it appears to have leaked in the past , altough they could not get it to leak this time. Kind of makes me wonder if they really found a substantial leak. BTW, anyone ever heard of stop-leak for R12 systems? My Porsche mechanic told me about it today, said his BMW mechanic swears by the stuff and it works.

Anyway, I told the BMW dealer to hold off until I figure this out, so they left about 1.5-2 pounds of freon in it and now it is blowing cold as ice!! We'll see how long it lasts.

I'll try to update everyone on my adventures. Regardless of the a/c stuff, I love my new car and I have this board to thank for it!! I found it on here and flew up to buy it the next day. Thanks to you , too, Tony!! Now I'm going to kiss my 91 M5 and my 96 Porsche 993 cabriolet goodnight and put them to bed!! :-)

Everything except the compressor? Makes no sense to me. Its the moving parts that go bad. Compressor and expansion valve usually go first. What is wrong with the parts?
