I bought a 1991 M5 3.6 in June and after 10 days the gearbox failed. I had it stripped down and the case hardening had gone on mine, as well as the bearings and it had chewed up a couple of shafts too!!. The cost to buy the parts over here in the uk was £1900!!! I bought a brand new box from BMW for £2337!!. The gearboxes are very difficult to rebuild due to their complexity and many rebuilds fail due to the person doing the work not having the relavent knowledge about a complex gear box like this. Dont buy the parts, go for a new one......Mike
