I have been told by a dealer service tech that once you unplug the "coding plug" on the cluster, and re-plug, a little red light will show on the cluster. This lets them know it's been tampered with. You better check this out. Seems kind of odd, because what happens when you have to change some of those hard-to-get-to bulbs. I also remember someone writing in that the plug on the cluster is matched to the VIN, but I don't,know about that either.
If any/all of this is true, there must be a trick that only the mechanics can take care of.
