US cars came with 17x8 at all four corners, and were factory-equipped with 235/45-17. You can use 245/40-17 with minimal effect on speedo accuracy. Anything significantly wider in the front would cause excessive tramlining.

With the Euro staggered-size setup, you can go larger in the rear. I have 275/40-17 which is the absolute largest you can squeeze onto a 9" wide wheel. Click here to see the tire.

I want to get myself some Throwing Star rims for my '95 525.

Just wondering what size tyres they take - I've heard conflicting info:

I've heard 2 stories:

1. rims are 8x17 front and 9x17 rear taking tyres 235/45/17 front and 255/40/17 Rear.

2. Rims are all 8x17 (front and rear) and take 235/45/17 all round.

Which is right?
