In Reply to: new tppic- what would you buy if... posted by still waiting on August 20, 2001 at 03:38:02:

but, if you are looking to get a car just to drive, the 540i sport would be good and reliable.

Ok assume you have $30k to spend. I have found the following cars:

1) E34 m5...typical high mileage (meaning in the 75-100k range)

2) 1995 M540i sport. Black on grey, yet for some reason chrome trim (as opposed to the shadowline trim)...57k miles

3) 1998 540i sport. Black on black. 55k miles.

4) any number of E36 M3's. All of which would have less mileage than options 1-3.

Here is my issue: I hate chrome. So I like the fact that the M5, M3, and e39 540 lack chrome. However, I like to have a rare car if possible. This would then take out the e36 M3 and the e39 540. Any thoughts on what you would do? I have not even considered the 528i sport even though that too could be obtained for $30k.

Thank you for your responses in advance.

Scott
