Pol.
Pol,
I know how you feel. I wanted one three years ago, but found that most of them were in France. Not only that- nobody there wanted to part with them, either.
So, in 1997 I bought a wrecked US-spec 525iT, and completely gutted the wagon. I then sent the car to Bavarian Professionals, in Berkeley, CA to convert it to my dream wagon. I heard they did a remarkable job in converting the 5-Series Touring, and got a chance to drive their fine work- a 1993 M5 Touring Conversion...I was SOLD.
The wagon spent the next six months in their care, and here's what they did:
-Replaced six-cylinder OHC motor for an M88/2 DOHC motor, with Getrag manual transmission
-Installed Sachs' racing clutch and 13.5" ATE slotted discs in front
-Installed E34/M5 front suspension/stressbar
-Upgraded rear trailing arm system with M5 unit
-Replaced stock exhaust with new Supersprint unit
-Added carbon fiber Aero roof rack/Hatch spoiler
-Installed M5 5-star dished Sport alloys
-Replaced side rearview mirrors with M3-type units
-Added Alpine eTAK GPS, and BMW-Business stereo system from 850i
Total Cost: $29,000/USD
Being a former BMW/NA Master Technician- I assisted them with alot of the rework. My wife loves this car- and so do the kids. Plus, it even
gets 30mph!
Contented,
Zach
