Think what you want, I've had both and honestly, the car pulls much harder with the K&N air filter. I know that if I didn't put any sort of heat shield on the car than it would be slower, but I think that the shield I made blocks off the majority of the hot air.... and then from behind the intake there isn't much room for air to come in anyway b/c of the large HFM blocking it off.



I still think that it will suck in warm air and reduce HP.The E34 M5 stock setup is the most efficient way to go unless you want to sacrifice power for sound.
