Questions:
1. What is the normal oil consumption for an M5 driven in a spirited manner? I am putting in a quart about every 1,000 miles or so, because the "ENGINE OIL LOW" warning comes on and sure enough, it's low.

I had a similar problem. I recently had the timing chain cover gasket and the oil pan gasket replaced. I'm still leaking a little oil, but now it looks like my consumption is about 1qt every 5,000 miles.

3. Does the M5 have any oil leak tendencies that I need to watch for, because I am noticing a little bit of accumulation of my garage floor.

Oil pan gasket, timing chain tensioner cover gasket. There is a gasket that causes a leak at the back of the enigne that is also a classic E34 issue. I want to say cylindar head gasket, but I can't quite remember.
